Jeff Koons — the famous pop artists with York County roots — has been in the news a lot recently. His sculpture “The Balloon Dog (Orange)” sold for a cool $58.6 million, making it the most expensive piece by a living artist to sell at auction. Kim Kardashian snapped a photo of him with her child, North West. And, he also landed in a spread in The New York Times T Magazine. The article investigates Koons’ personal art collection. Read an excerpt:
“When Jeff Koons speaks about the ‘biological’ subtext of his art, he’s alluding to the sexual references embedded within. In his bedroom, where nearly every painting — by Poussin, Magritte, Fragonard and more — is a celebration of desire.”
